Chapter 1 Review Test
-
Last week we discussed
cliques at school. While it is easy to
see how we are all different, we should focus on how we are all God’s children
and should show love and respect to all.
-
We learned that our
forefathers who came to America were foreigners with strange customs and
language. Immigrants, such as Bosnians,
should be welcomed as brothers in Christ.
-
Wisdom is learning
from others mistakes.
-
God is perfect and is
a mystery. We strive to find God in his
creation (the Earth) and through all people who are made in His image.
Scriptures:
Luke 16:19-31 --- the
sin of greed/selfishness/self-indulgence
Luke 17:1-4 --- do not
cause others to sin, forgive others,,,”Millstone
around the neck”
Romans 6:12-23 – The
Holy Spirit can work within us to help us “want” to do the right thing (Read
when looking at page 25)
Proverb of the day: Proverbs 28:26 He who
trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
Jesus had a sense of humor…
A man was in his front
yard mowing grass when his beautiful, blond, female neighbor came out of the
house and went straight to the mailbox.
She opened it, looked inside, slammed it shut, and stormed back into her house.
A little later she came out of her house again, went to the mailbox, again
opened it, and slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went.
As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, here she came again. She marched
to the mailbox, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever.
Puzzled by her actions, the man asked her, "Is something wrong?"
To which she replied, "There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps
telling me I've got mail!"
Chapter
2
Moral
Discernment - The following are questions written by teens. Please write out 3-5 bullet points in your
folder that outline your answer.
Do you think toilet papering someone’s house is a sin?
I know it sounds like a weird question, but what do you think about it?
I have a major jealousy
problem. I always have to be the best at everything, and if someone is
prettier, smarter or funnier than I, I have to do something to be better than
she. I look at other people’s talents, and I want them for myself. I even get
jealous of my best friend!
I need to realize how great my life is! I want to get rid of this jealousy that
controls me. Got any advice of how to vanquish the big ugly green monster?

Ask what a millstone
is and if they remember the passage from last week. “It would be better for him if a millstone
were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause
one of these little ones to sin” – Do not sin; do not cause others to sin.
Scriptures:
Luke 17:5-10 – Have
Catechist read explain context of Christian duty
Proverb of the day: Proverbs 12:1 He who
loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
Jesus had a sense of humor…
Children were lined up in the
cafeteria of a Christian school for lunch.
At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.
Someone had written a note and placed it next to the apples.
It read, "Take only one, God is watching." Moving
through the line, to the other end of the table, was a large pile of chocolate
chip cookies.
One little boy wrote his own note and snuck it next to the cookies,
"Take all you want, God is watching the apples."

The two great commandments. - "The most important one," Jesus
answered, "is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is
this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no
commandment greater than these."
Seven Deadly Sins
Scriptures:
Luke 18:9-14 – One
should be humble, we are all sinners in the eyes of God
Proverb of the day: 13:3 He who guards his
lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
Silence is the best
substitute for brains ever invented – Henry Ashurst
Jesus had a sense of humor…
In Sunday School, they were teaching how God created everything,
including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told
him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.
Later in the week, his
mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, "Johnny
what is the matter?"
Little Johnny responded,
"I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

The two great commandments. - "The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is
this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no
commandment greater than these."
The two great
commandments are broken by sins such as: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath,
envy, and pride.
Pride generates real
sins such as stalking, fighting, violence, and deprives us of the gift of
seeing others as Children of God.
Narcissism – caring too much for your appearance.
Scriptures:
Luke 18:1-8 – Even
persistence in “the world” works, how much more with God’s ear.
Matthew 25:31-46 –
Judgment will come to all
Proverb of the day: 28:6 Better
a poor man who walks in his integrity, than he who is crooked in his ways and
rich.
Jesus had a sense of humor…
Everything I need to know, I learned
from Noah's Ark...
ONE: Don't miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something
really big.
FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the
cheetahs.
NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals

The bus driver says, "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen.
Ugh!"
The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man

The man says, "There's no call for that. You go right up there and tell
him off. Go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for
